A-D is a twenty-seven year old buying and marketing group that began in the electrical industry. Our role is to level the playing field between strong local and regional wholesalers and their national chain competitors. Our major areas of focus include: enhancing member profitability through rebates and growth incentives; facilitating member growth with preferred suppliers through marketing and planning programs; facilitating the exchange of best-practices and reducing supply chain costs by automating transactions and streamlining communications.

After becoming the largest buying and marketing group in the electrical industry in the mid to late eighties, we expanded into five other industries by merging with existing member-owned cooperatives and by start-up. Today, we are the largest buying group for electrical distributors, general line industrial distributors, pipe, valves and fittings distributors, plumbing distributors, HVAC distributors and drywall / gypsum specialty distributors.   All in all, our 530 plus independently owned members sell more than $27 Billion in construction and industrial supplies, buy more than $7 Billion from A-D Preferred Suppliers and earn hundreds of millions in enhanced incentives each year.  

A-D’s unique, multi-industry structure enables us to leverage a common back office (finance, accounting, marketing, IT, meeting planning, executive, etc) over multiple industries and provide value-added services and resources to our members and suppliers on an extremely efficient basis.   Each A-D Division is managed by its own dedicated staff that follows the direction of the members and suppliers in their Division through a representative committee structure.   

A-D has a proven track record of enhancing distributor profitability and providing above market growth to our suppliers.   We have value-added programs that drive growth, improve mix, help reduce cost, increase rebates and enhance relationships.  Our people are experienced, service oriented and dedicated to the success of independent distribution.
